You’ve finally done it. You’ve made it into the newspaper for all the right reasons. Keep reading to find out how to turn print to canvas prints and celebrate your success.
Interestingly, many of our most accomplished moments end up at the bottom of a box somewhere, or its stuck to the fridge and will eventually become a mess under a jumble of magnets and other notes.
Turning your news into a canvas art print will ensure your achievement is valued for years to come. The best part? You don’t have to be an artist to make it happen.
Step 1: Scan your newspaper article to create a digital file
When scanning your article, it’s important to find a scanning platen that’s big enough to scan the entire article at once. Flatbed printers used at home can often only scan A4 size items only. Newspapers are often a larger tabloid size (or broadsheet if you’re lucky!). Your best bet is to use a larger office-based photocopier or pop into a printing shop and pay a small charge to scan it there. Ensure the machine is set to scan the highest quality resolution available.
Alternatively, if you don’t have the right equipment there are plenty of iPhone apps that will allow you to scan the article and save it as a PDF file. If you have one of the latest iPhones, you should be able to capture the article in detail.
Step 2: Crop the newspaper article.
If you don’t have access to professional photo editing software like Adobe Photoshop, have a search on the web for free web-based photo editing tools. Your main goal here is to crop out any advertisements or irrelevant articles you’re sharing the page with.
If you can’t crop them, that’s OK. After all, it adds to the legitimacy of the clipping. When editing your photo, make sure you don’t resize or alter the high quality resolution of your image.
Step 3: Select your custom print size and upload your image.
This is the easiest part! Hop online and begin creating your newspaper art. If you like, you can upload, edit, and re-size your artwork using a platform like Canva. This piece of art will likely only suit a single print option. So – once you’ve determined the shape – the only thing left to do is decide on the size.
A 75 x 50cm print is ideal for this type of item. Big enough to assert pride in your achievement, but not so big that you’re accused of having a big head (in more ways than one!).
You can give your new print prime position in your place of business, your home office, library or family room. Who knows, it may even help turn that 15 minutes of fame into a lifetime of success.
