Photography is like any other skill or hobby: It improves with a bit of practice. When you start printing on canvas and accumulating a collection of awesome cheap canvas prints for your walls, it’s natural to have a renewed interest in photography and improving your photos in general, if only to have better interior decoration.
Well, it’s a new year, and that’s traditionally the time for resolutions we make to improve our lives and do more with our time, so make a few resolutions now that will improve your photography and, by extension, your print photos on canvas.
Canvas Printers Resolution: Take More Photos
If you want better photos to make canvas prints online with, then take more photos. Always have your phone or camera ready, and don’t hesitate to take photos often and enthusiastically. The more photos you take, the more comfortable you’ll become with whatever hardware and software you’re using, and the more natural the basic rules of good composition and lighting like the Rule of Threes will become.
If you only take a photo now and again, chances are you’ll spend more time fumbling than snapping, and your lack of familiarity with the settings will also cost you in terms of picture quality. Some great photos will be lost to delays and hesitation – problems that can be eliminated by taking more photos.
Canvas Printers Resolution: Curate Existing Photos
You have thousands of old photos on hard drives, DVDs, memory cards, and cloud storage, don’t you? We all do. Most of them are uncollated, disorganised, and not even named properly. Make a resolution to go through them. But here’s the real catch: Don’t just organise and label. Discard, too.
If you have ten photos of the same moment? Pick the best one and delete the rest. Any photo you cannot identify in any way, gone. Awful, blurry photos? Disappeared.
There are two reasons for this. One, you’ll get a better sense of what your weaknesses are as you see them repeated over hundreds of disparate photos, and two, it’s healthy from a mental point of view to get rid of all that cruft.
Canvas Printers Resolution: Teach Yourself
Finally, make a resolution to finally sit down and not only purchase or download some real photo software, but learn how to use it. If you can afford to buy something mainstream, like PhotoShop, that’s great. If you need to download something free and Open Source, that’s fine too.
The key really is to learn the program. Really find out what it can do, what all the sliders and values mean, and how you can use the tools to improve your photos.
